Humble Act

A great showman with boundless talent, poetic instinct and hidden kindness; George Michael has left the building but his charitable legacy shines on. From organising spontaneous concerts, public or low-key appearances, humanitarian and local petitions to filling his car with emergency items to distribute to the homeless every winter; George emptied out his pockets to fill his soul; he felt the suffering of others on a very personal level.

We live in a world where money, land, resources and equality are not distributed with fairness or empathy. Thankfully there are saints among us, some, like Bill Gates and Ellen DeGeneres are changing the lives, health and prospects of needy people; but we also have unsung heroes who have devoted their unannounced lives to helping others. These guardians of the planet deserve our respect and acknowledgement.

Do you think we have time to fill the empty hands and barren hope of the unfortunate in this world? Charity is not a guilty, seasonal gesture. We can all help eradicate poverty, suffering and injustice. Start with a few personal changes, sacrifices and adjustments. Make a real difference in the world with acts of kindness. Discover the gift of giving.
