International Literacy Day
8th September
Many of us forget the privilege of a free education and yet, all over the world, there are children and adults who will never experience the joys of learning. They are busy trying to stay alive, working with their hands from an early age and walking for miles every day just to collect water and fuel.
Education should be a free ‘right’ for all, but until this happens, we must help others find and hold onto the power of words; written, read, spoken and heard. Knowledge is power. Use all that education offers to help make life more than just existence.
Books, not bombs. Education is a dwindled resource and governments need to stop ignoring the impact on children and teachers. Bun Bakes should not be maintaining schools. You cannot raise a bright future in financial and political darkness. Use your vote and voice to save all that really should matter but is pushed to the back of political agenda.
