International Men’s Day

19th November

Our faces map out who we are and where we have been. Why do so many women and men choose to erase their story forcing others to read a lie? Women spend hours at the beginning and the end of the day applying and removing their masks of perfection. Men seem to be able to jump out of bed without dragging a comb through their hair or applying age-defying serum and foundation; yet, they are still admired and desirable. Their sun-kissed crow’s feet seem to enhance rather than negate their public image. Is natural confidence a male virtue? Will women ever be allowed to appear as themselves without the layers of expectation?

Be happy with the skin you are in and celebrate the unique in yourself. Never assume that baring your soul via your face means you are defeated or exposed. We must normalise authenticity and avoid an expensive or pressured deceit. Embrace what you are. Confidence is a naked smile.
