Out of the Mouths of Babes

‘Man is the only creature that consumes without producing. He does not give milk, he does not lay eggs, he is too weak to pull the plough, he cannot run fast enough to catch rabbits. Yet he is lord of all the animals. He sets them to work, he gives back to them the bare minimum that will prevent them from starving, and the rest he keeps for himself.’

Animal Farm, George Orwell

The dairy and meat industries rely on human demand but the planet is no longer able to take the strain. Biodiversity, natural habitat, global poverty and destruction signal an urgent need for change. Animal farming cannot feed the world but plants can. The land and resources needed to produce food for all life cannot come from the suffering and slaughter of animals. Plants can and must replace the exploitation of nature.

There are kinder alternatives to animals as food, clothing and cruel sport. Breastmilk should belong to the mother and her young in any species. Skin and fur suit the original, not as fashion and lashes for a world of disposable culture. Be content with who you are and the skin you’re in, and please leave animals in theirs.
